A project changes when it takes its own questions seriously. This chronicle traces decisions, detours and verifiable progress.
The narrative begins with the earliest atlas traces dated here, on 19 August 2026. Earlier preparatory work and the later project memory have not yet been fully recovered. The detailed first edition has an editorial cutoff of 9 September 2026.
Dataset snapshots are appended from the canonical manifest during new website builds. New reasons and milestones are documented editorially. Acceptance in GitHub and public deployment are distinct events.
Reconstructed conversation trace
The earliest conversation trace dated here describes a book about language beyond a dictionary of rhetorical figures. Definitions, examples, counterexamples and movements of thought are brought together. Harjung serves as a reference for checking. Earlier preparatory work is not yet fully documented.

The earliest preserved Git snapshot already contains portals, regions and the emergence genealogy. Later changes record source checks, cross-axes and typed connections. This date identifies a preserved state, not the creation of every component.

All ten terms in an English rhetoric audit are already present. The gain lies in distinctions, historical semantic scope and duplicate decisions, including ekphrasis, apophasis and symploce. Further source reviews follow on 2 September.

A paper for a linguistics journal is proposed. Its focus is the source-based inclusion process and how different paths of thought can be made accountable. A separate consciousness project receives its own objective.

German and English are defined as distinct sister editions for print as well. The following model separates concepts, language-specific senses and word forms. Chinese remains an explicitly reviewed pilot, not a claimed complete third edition.

The methods dossier derives concrete rules from WordNet, FrameNet, CLICS, Cassin, ILIESI and historical concept projects: persistent identifiers, typed relations, precise evidence, historical states and documented non-equivalence.

The first handoff for irony is rejected because its identifier mapping has not been confirmed. After correction, the inbox accepts two additional evidence records. The shared dataset remains protected; the evidence count rises from 1,680 to 1,682.

The canonical atlas state is incorporated into the private GitHub project. Proposed changes are reviewed through traceable development branches and pull requests. Automated workflows prepare exact WordNet lookups and reliable handoffs.

The GitHub main branch accepts 18 external sense mappings for six atlas concepts from WordNet 3.0. Internal concepts and connections are preserved. The data model advances to 1.1.0. Acceptance in GitHub is recorded separately from the public deployment state.

The Atlas of Language is neither a dictionary of foreign terms nor a complete encyclopedia of linguistics. It maps figures of speech, expressive forms, and cultural forms of language that reveal what words do to thought, perception, and human interaction.
Technical system terms and interchangeable subclassifications do not become profiles merely because they exist. They remain explanatory layers, variants, cross-references, or background concepts.
